Celebrating success is a simple way to motivate staff and ensure morale is kept high. Companies that choose not to celebrate their success often have fewer successes and less productivity.
Celebrations are an opportunity to ‘re-live’ an accomplishment. Celebrations allow employees to reflect on their innovation, ingenuity and hard work. Its Management's role to facilitate this re-living. Consider, when celebrating within your organization, the value of briefly explaining what it was that was achieved and its importance to the company. Practically, many people find lengthy management speeches boring. There is a negative correlation between the length of management speeches and enjoyment of a celebration. Perhaps make the presentation interactive by asking how the group accomplished what they did – this kick starts the re-living, and thus starts the celebration! Celebrations often go hand in hand with companies giving their employees a small gift. This gift may be a token of appreciation. A word of caution ….. ensure the gift reflects positively on how the employees are perceived. Although gifts or prizes do not have to be large, it should be in line with the size of the achievement or accomplishment the team has made. Gifts should be useful, and foster positive feelings. People will work tirelessly for a tee shirt if the context is meaningful and the appreciation is sincere. We have an in built meter and know exactly when we are being manipulated. Who should be invited to celebrations? A simple answer: everybody! The challenge begins when you carelessly leave someone out. This builds resentment and ill will. Celebrating success is important for companies. It breeds a culture of fun and positive thinking and psychology. Try to get into the habit of celebrating something at least once a week: It may be a birthday or an anniversary. Preferably a solid accomplishment at work. The celebration does not need to be an elaborate or expensive. It can be as simple as a small as a box of chocolates. But celebrate!! Morale will be improved almost instantly. Companies that don’t celebrate success will eventually have no success to celebrate. Add as favourites (0) | Quote this article | Views: 14384
